The Tri-State area’s first Alzheimer and Dementia community – Sunshine Valley Suites – was opened in 1996 by Luther Manor Communities. It is licensed by the state of Iowa and located on our Hillcrest Campus in Dubuque.
Twelve private and two semi-private suites comprise this household which offers:
It can be especially stressful recognizing that a loved one might require support beyond the scope of what’s being offered at home. Luther Manor's professional staff can assess what care services are currently needed.
Our qualified staff will draw on a full range of resources – nursing care, physicians, social workers, clergy and especially family members who know their loved one best. Individualized care plans are developed and reviewed regularly. In this way, we can best meet each resident’s specific, changing needs and requirements.
Our Dementia Specific Assisted Living provides connection and socialization, faith practices, and purposeful, active engagement in daily life. The comfortable household on our Grand Meadows campus offers: 16 suites; a full-sized kitchen, dining room, living room, outdoor patio and garden area, along with a private lounge area with ample seating for residents, family and friends.
Further features of our Dementia Specific Assisted Living household include:
We honor and respect our Memory Care residents and support their unique, individual needs. We focus on our expert clinical care with dementia specific practices.
"My family would like to thank Grand Meadows for being there for Mom. This experience sheds light on an important factor for people with intermittent confusion and memory issues. For my mother, who depends on care-givers, interacting with familiar caregivers who know her, her personality, preferences, and needs makes all the difference. Staff who know her, know how to get her to smile, relax, what her challenges are, understand her special needs, what games she likes to play, who her family members are, and when she needs assistance the most. Thanks again for making a big difference in my Mom's life." - Family Testimonial
